January Currently

It's that time! Time for Currently with Farley! 

Listening: Payton has the Disney Jr channel on for noise. She hardly WATCHES it but we MUST have the channel for her background noise. And Mickey Mousekercize was just on. 

Loving: That is self explanatory. I have not done one school related thing this break and it has been wonderful... until I have to do it all this weekend. I go back Tuesday.

Thinking: We are moving and every single house we have found and loved (and even offered on one) we lose. It is getting very frustrating!

Wanting: You would think being off over two weeks I would be able to catch up on sleep, but it just isn't happening. I have no idea WHY I am so tired all the time but it is getting old.

Needing: To lose weight. I will NOT turn 30 (in May) at this weight. But... being that I am always exhausted, I never have the energy to do any form of working out. 

Memory/Tradition: We don't have a New Year's tradition yet (hopefully once we move) but for Christmas Payton gets new pajamas and an ornament for the tree on Christmas Eve. She hangs the ornament, puts on her new pajamas, and then we read The Night Before Christmas.

And that means a lot of things... summer vacation, Payton's birthday, Tim's birthday, Vacations... but it also means...

I know everyone loves this as much as I do! And I am actually doing it on the first day it was posted for once!

 

Listening- Tim tell Payton that she can NOT watch Henry Hugglemonster right now. Cute Disney Jr show... not so cute when it is constantly on!

Loving- self explanatory. I am having a somewhat mostly all stress free summer vacation so far.

Thinking- I just got a realllllly good pin code from Disney (if you don't know what a Disney pin code is then you have NOT visited Disney enough) but the dates are not what I want. But I am going to see if it is a possibility at all. It isn't looking like it though.

Wanting- Well, we are still waiting to see if my dad is going to get off work for our vacation. If he is then we are heading to Disney (pin code out the window) and if not, then just us 3 are heading to Atlanta. But I hate waiting until the last minute to plan!

Needing- nothing. I am good to go right now.

Vacay essentials- well this is the most time I get to spend with my husband and daughter at the same time. Sun- girl needs to get some color back and Relax- with a good book.  Or just relax in general.

It's MAY

and that can only mean one thing... ok well two things. 1. My birthday is coming up (on the 10th) 

AND

This is pretty self explanatory but I will give a little detail for ya..

It is silent because I am in my classroom early and decided to work on this before school starts.

I am loving that school is almost over. I love my kids this year and will be sad to let them go, but I am ready for summer.

I am sick of being tired. If you noticed, my blogging has slacked lately. Because I am exhausted. Always. I went to the doctor and I have a vitamin d deficiency so I am on vitamins (and am hoping to get some sun soon to help this situation) to see if that helps. But needless to say, all I ever want to do is sleep.

I want a new purse but can't decide which one I want. I haven't found one that I love and must have yet, so I haven't bought one. I also want my very first Erin Condren lesson planner. I will be ordering that this weekend though.

I can't get too much into what I need, but I have a lot of questions and things up in the air that I need answers to.

Summer bucket list- 1. Create- I have a lot of ideas on my list that I want to make but haven't had time, so I am hoping over summer I can get them done and start with a blank notebook again. 2. Read- I love to read and I have a TON of books already purchased and a ton on my wish list. I just want time to read them. 3. Enjoy Payton- this school year has been draining and I haven't had nearly enough time to spend with Payton so I can't wait to have summer break to take her outside and play all day!

And now, my quiet time is ending... be on the lookout because my BBFF Jenn from Rowdy in First Grade and I are going to be hosting a summer book study on the book Teach Like a Pirate. No Jokin'- it's April

Can you believe it is already April?! That means just about 6 weeks left of school for us. And just 3 more weeks to prepare for THE TEST. At this point, we are just reviewing for the test and trying to get comfortable with test style questions. But enough about that... it is time for something fun. Farley's Currently Link Up! These are some of my favorite things to do!

Listening- I love Pandora. I pick some of my favorite singers, make stations, then shuffle them.

Loving- My observations for the year are OVER. It is a HUGE stress relief knowing those are done. Last semester they were so far behind that I had to wait until this semester to have my FIRST semester observation. So I have had 3 in the past 3 months. But they are done and I am happy.

Thinking- well, my last observation was Thursday and I really want to see the scores. I think the lesson went really great but I won't feel comfortable until I SEE the scores. Even though my principal was smiling through the observation, I still want the scores.

Wanting- I ordered some guided reading books from Amazon last night. I should have one by Wednesday and the other was shipped from someone selling it used so hopefully that will come in the next week. I WILL do better at guided reading next year. If you have any suggestions, ideas, blog posts, resources, that you LOVE that help with guided reading, leave a comment please :)

Needing- we have TCAP/Math/Science night on Thursday. We each have to come up with a math or science activity that kids can do. I decided to be practical and show something they can do at home. I am using Hope King's Math Centers and choosing one activity to present and model. Simple and can be done at home, without buying anything. Thank's Hope for these amazing centers!

Advice- Only compare yourself to YOURSELF. I know it is hard to not compare yourself to other teachers, other bloggers, other TpT sellers, whatever the case may be. But as long as you are being a better you TODAY than you were YESTERDAY then that is all that matters. Just work on yourself and don't worry about anyone else.

Well hello March!

March already huh?! How did that happen? Not that I am complaining believe me. 5 more days til Spring Break! (But then... the rest of the year is going to d..r..a..g.) Since it is March..it is time for Farley's Currently! I love these and if you haven't joined in you are really missing out!

Listening is pretty self explanatory... Payton likes to watch "Mimmie" before bed. 

Loving... I am using my Facebook fan page a little more now and just started doing shout outs. What? You didn't know I had a fan page? Well I do (and I would tell you to just look at my side bar to find the link, but my sidebar seems to have decided it is a bottom bar, so instead you can click HERE to become a fan). 

Thinking- Payton is seriously the cutest kid ever. She is currently walking around with a little tote bag as a hat. 

Wanting- nothing, I am very happy. I even got some new pens today (Oh...that reminds me I guess I DO want something... I decided today I wanted the Erin Condren planner- yes 2 days after the coupon ended. I stopped a woman in the pen aisle who had one and I fell in love). 

Needing- well this is simple. If I don't get it done, I can't use it in my lessons this week. And that won't be good. 

Like- going shopping (sometimes), LOVE gadgets...more than I like clothes and shoes (and about a tie with how much I love new pens), and hate (this was answered by my husband) getting gas. I absolutely hate stopping to get gas. I will 99% of the time leave the car of him when it needs gas. I have stopped for gas I think once in the past 3 years. 

I promise you I have an amazing post all ready for you, but I posted it on my iPad from an app that is currently not letting me post :( 

Back to work I go. 

February- where did you come from?!

Umm hello Gina it is February... I have no idea how this happened. Don't get me wrong, I am glad it is February because I am so ready for spring and warm weather and break and summer... Ok maybe I am getting ahead of myself here. But the point is, I have no idea where January went! Not only is it February but that means it is time for one of my all time favorite linkups! Farley's monthly currently! If you don't link up with Farley you are really missing out on a fun one. And the over 300 people that have already entered only a week into the month should be proof of that! So...without further ado...

Listening- to some old episodes of Whole Brain Teaching TV. I have always been intrigued by WBT but I just haven't "gotten it". I decided last night I am never going to get it if I don't just go for it. So I am going to do it slowly. And I have an amazing friend who is WBT certified...or something (Farrah forgive me I can't remember what your actual role is). 

Loving- Payton is walking back and forth between me and Tim giving us kisses. Some days she is very stingy with the kisses but today, she was very giving. And who can resist her kisses?! Not me that's for sure!

Thinking- there are a lot of unknowns for next school year and I hate not knowing as much as I don't know. 

Wanting- Well...February 7 and I am ready for Spring Break. It could be because the weather has been getting nicer and we are going to Nashville for 2 nights. Or I am just ready for break... either way. Bring it on!

Needing- I always need more sleep. But last night was awful (which is why I am home blogging instead of working). Payton was up and crying every hour. For no reason. And only wanted me. Needless to say, I am tired. 

Pet peeves- I HATE when people use the wrong there, their, or they're. I also hate when people say It was bigger THEN I thought (or something similar when they use then and should be using than). Both of those drive me CAH-RAY-ZEE!

It's that time...

Yep... time for 2 things... winter break to end (that's the sad part of this post) AND Farley's Currently (that's the exciting part of this post). I missed last month's currently because things were a little hectic. And if I don't post this one today, I will end up missing this one too because I head back to work tomorrow.

So without further ado...

Most of this is pretty self explanatory, and you can see the theme here is ORGANIZE. I am so not organized. It is AWFUL! I have so many amazing resources yet every time I start a new unit I have to dig through files and crates and binders to find everything. I started this past summer getting it all organized. I have ALL my grammar resources in a binder sorted by skill. I have almost all of my science done by unit. I started my reading skills and some math skills. And then I lost steam. I have over 2 years worth of good stuff to organize. So my goal is to do a small stack each weekend. I THINK my best option is to first sort everything by subject (this will probably take a weekend or two) THEN break each subject down by skills and begin putting them in the right binders. We will see how it goes.

As you can also see...I go back to work tomorrow (sad face). So I need to finish getting everything ready. BUT I am going to try to keep up with blogging and creating things for my TpT store and I have my to do lists and calendars ready to go!
