Slim Down Saturday Jan 17, 2015

It's time for another Slim Down Saturday... and it is taking all my will power to not throw in the towel...

My chart below will explain why I want to throw in the towel...
See that gain/loss for the week. Yeah, I gained TWO pounds. For a total for the year of PLUS one pound. After doing everything right this week! I didn't eat junk at all, went to the gym 3x (which is my goal for now), had NO pop all week, AND made my step goal 4 out of the past 6 days. Yet I still GAINED weight. This is when I would typically give up and binge. I am doing everything I can to not break down. I am HOPING that the gain is compliments of PMS... if not, I have no explanation for it.

My something to do better next week is to be able to run for a longer stretch on the treadmill. I do a fast walk for a few minutes, then run for the length of one song, then back to walking, then run, and so on. I am an awful runner. But I want to be able to run longer than one song.

My goal- um, lose weight agin.... I want to lose the 2 I gained this week and at least one more so that I am back in the negatives.

My one word, quote, song is from Finding Nemo- Just keep swimming- because I REALLY wanted to give up when I stepped on the scale. But I can't. I know this is a process and that I didn't gain it all in a couple weeks and I am sure not going to LOSE it all in a couple weeks. (Though I don't want to keep gaining that's for sure!)

  1. I completely understand! It sucks when we do the right things and don't see the results we want. Your quote to just keep swimming is perfect. That's what we have to do on this journey that we're on to make the changes we want to make. Keep doing what you're doing and the loss will come.

  2. Good for you for not giving up! It could definitely just be water weight as your body is getting used to all the changes. Good luck this week and hopefully you are able to sweat all that water out.

  3. So sorry you had a rough week. Good for you for sticking to your plan though. I agree with the Traveling Teacher, it could be water weight. Also do you use a food journal? I use the My Fitness Pal app. Sometimes we are eating totally healthy, yet we don't realize that the calories are higher than we think. I weigh and measure all my food. I think it really helps me to know exactly where I am at with my daily intake. I have my app set to remind me to log each of my meals. Kudos to you for making your step goal! You can do it! Hopefully this next week will be better!

  4. I hate those kinds of weeks! I keep getting the feeling that when my Whole30 is up, I'm not going to see hardly any weight loss and I'm going to be complete demoralized. We can do this though! I agree with everyone else that it could be water weight. It could also be how much food you're eating - even if it is good, it could be too much. I'm not a big calorie counter, but it's really interesting to learn about correct portion sizes because a lot of people are actually eating too much each meal. Interestingly, plate sizes have been getting increasingly bigger for the past decades which has contributed partially to people eating more.

  5. Weight loss is like a cha-cha you move forward and backwards, but you still moving along. You're clearly building healthy habits. You'll get there. If you've been exercising you may have gained muscle mass which will help with the weight loss in the long run.
